If I’ve learned one thing about blogging it’s that focus is
important. If you want your blog to be successful you need to define what you
are, narrow it a bit further than even than you think it should be, and stay
consistent.
In the early days of the 24thminute I tried to write about
issues outside of Canadian soccer and although some people may have enjoyed
those articles, the truth was most were coming to read my take on Toronto FC
not Manchester City (I should probably learn this lesson on my Twitter feed as well,
but that isn’t going to happen…).
So, on Canadian Soccer News we’ve kept our focus on Canadian
soccer. It’s helped us grow far faster and bigger than we ever would have
imagined. Sure, there are fans of the game in Canada that may not read us because
they follow the European game far closer than they follow it here, but so be it.
But, I’m a writer. I’m a writer that is most successful when
he states his opinion strongly. To do that you need to have strong opinions.
And, the world of football is much bigger than our little frozen land.
So, I need a vanity blog to talk about the game elsewhere.
Welcome to Eurosnobs – the place to go when MLS just isn’t
enough. Bookmark it for the world’s leading coverage of Euro 2012, transfer
rumours that somehow always link back to City and the most rational and
balanced coverage of Manchester United you’ll ever read.
Although my, you know, paid work will always take preference, I promise you that I will be here daily through the Euros. I may even invite
some of my writing friends to provide that vital and in demand Canadian
perspective on the European championship.
And other stuff. Here, a prediction: Chelsea will win
Saturday. Why? Because it makes no sense.
Just like it makes no sense that I’m starting another damn
blog. But, I am.
